Phytoplankton are the smallest plant forms found in Earth’s aquatic ecosystems. These organisms are highly nutritious and protein-rich, serving as a primary food source for all life forms in coral reef ecosystems, either directly or indirectly. Many species of phytoplankton contain natural pigments that can enhance the vibrancy and freshness of coral colors. The larvae of many fish, shrimp, and bivalves feed directly or indirectly on these organisms, and all organisms residing in coral islands directly feed on plankton. Many coral species that lack the symbiotic algae Zooxanthellae feed directly on plankton.

Phytoplankton is an excellent food source for the large family of corals, including IPS and SPS, as well as filter feeders like tube worms, providing them with carbohydrates, lipids, and fatty acids.
Deep Ocean Phytoplankton is produced under specific and completely sterile conditions, meeting the needs of coral ecosystems in reef aquariums. This product contains species such as Scenedesmus, Tetraselmis, Dunaliella salina, Spirulina, Haematococcus pluvialis, and Nannochloropsis, which cover the size range for LPS and SPS corals.
