Lugol’s Iodine Supplement
Research has shown that the concentration of iodine stored in the skeletal tissue of corals is approximately 8 mg per kilogram. This element promotes flourishing and rapid growth in many soft coral species such as Xenia and the large family of Mushrooms. Additionally, it helps prevent goiter in fish, which can disrupt their growth. Lugol’s iodine solution is precisely formulated and processed to meet all these needs. It can also be used for dipping corals to eliminate pathogenic pathogens and harmful bacteria.

Iodine is essential for hermatypic invertebrates such as corals and mollusks, as it is used to mitigate the side effects of excess oxygen produced by symbiotic algae, which can stimulate coral tissues. Corals and mollusks that appear lethargic or closed under intense light are attempting to shade their symbiotic algae to reduce the rate of oxygen production. Iodine, as iodide ions, essentially binds with oxygen to form non-toxic iodate, thereby protecting the symbiotic algae.

Usage Instructions:
First, determine the iodine level accurately using a test kit (0.04-0.06 mg per liter).
Shake the bottle well before use.
Daily, add one drop of Lugol’s iodine supplement for every 190 liters of aquarium water until the iodine concentration falls within the above range. After that, add one drop for every 190 liters to the tank every three days.
For coral dipping, add 5 drops of Lugol’s iodine supplement to 4 liters of water and mix well until the solution is uniformly dissolved.
Immerse the treated coral, depending on the species, for 3 to 15 minutes, then rinse with aquarium water and return it to the tank.
Recommended Dipping Times:
Short-polyp SPS corals: 7 to 10 minutes
Long-polyp LPS corals: 6 to 8 minutes
Soft corals: 8 to 10 minutes
Soft corals from the polyp group: 5 to 7 minutes
If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 24 hours.
Reference 1: Each One ml of Lugol’s solution increases iodide levels by 34 mg per gallon of water.
